Jarenlang persoonlijk onderzoek, dat naar Amerika en Nepal leidde, bezorgde informatie om het klankschaalgebeuren en het muziektherapeutische in een breed perspectief te plaatsen, zonder alles in absolute trefwoorden te willen afbakenen. Geert Verbeke schreef een curieus boekje over klankschalen. Al lezende laat je je meeslepen door deze eigenaardige en kleurrijke man die vol vuur zijn liefde betuigt voor de kleine slaginstrumenten met hun magische klank. Op een heldere en prettige niet-softe wijze geeft de auteur inzicht in het gebruik van klankschalen bij klankschaalmassage en andere vormen van relaxeren met geluid. bound SINGING BOWLS, AN ABC: This is the best book available on this subject at present! If you own one of these beautiful sonic treasures, then it will enrich your joy and understanding no end. If you are contemplating buying one then there is much good sound advice on what to be wary of in this market place of singing bowls (at source, over the internet, or where you live). There are delightful drawings and fine photographs throughout whilst a warm sense of humour suffuses the book. It is a delightful little treasure that I can recommend from my heart. The author is a writer and this skill is evident throughout the book. It is an ABC - if you want to know about Harmonics - then turn to H and so on. Whilst it discourages one from daydreaming about some imagined fantasy world of Tibetan singing bowls, yet it is not void of mystical insights or the poetic touch. It is rather, a true service to the subject from the hand of a person of great integrity. It also gives advice on playing the bowls etc. So it is a book covering most of the subject (as much, if not more, as any other similar books have) but with no bull. I, myself, have been using Tibetan ritual instruments in my own music since 1973 and I am also considered a leading world expert on this subject (having given around 300 workshops and lectures)- should you need to put my recommendation into perspective! I am so deeply glad that this lovely little book is available to us all and I am so grateful to Geert for writing his heartfelt insights into this beautiful rarified sonic realm.
